Where does glycerin come from?
Glycerin is a byproduct produced during the soap making process. During saponification two things are produced: soap and glycerin. In many instances, soap makers remove the glycerin and use it in more expensive skin care products. This explains why high quality glycerin soap costs a bit more than other soaps.
Glycerin is thought to be a humectant, which means that it attracts moisture. Due to this quality, glycerin soap attracts moisture and keeps it locked in. Unlike some soaps that dry your skin out and make it feel tight and even flaky, glycerin soap keeps your skin feeling more hydrated. Using glycerin soap on a regular basis can help your skin become softer and more supple. In fact, a glycerin soap bar in a humid environment can actually become coated with tiny moisture beads - proof of its moisture drawing power. We have received feedback from our customers that Morell Apiaries Honey & Milk Soap has helped with eczema and acne. Of course, results will vary based on your individual skin type.
